“Hei!” to all reading this post. As you may have guessed, it is “Hi” in Norwegian. Simple, isn’t it?

As you know Norwegian is the language spoken by the people of Norway. It’s called “norsk” in Norwegian. It’s a Scandinavian language along with Swedish and Danish. All the three languages have common origins and it is quite possible to understand the others when one is known.

There are two forms of Norwegian – Bokmål and Nynorsk. Out of these, Bokmål is the language we are going to learn because it is the most common language used in Norway.

English has been my mother tongue and I can tell you from personal experience that learning Norwegian will be easier for you if you know the English language. Just look at a few Norwegian words below:

Norwegian English
 bok
book
 hus
house
 mann
man

As you can see there are quite many words that are similar to those in English. So if you know English, you are better off while learning Norwegian.

So let’s begin to learn Norwegian.

To learn Norwegian fast from a Norwegian teacher, check out Norwegian Class 101.

    • Hi Voreadis,

I am sorry. I cannot help you with getting a job in Norway. I just teach the Norwegian language.

However since you are an engineer in petroleum and gas, you will find many jobs available in Norway. However it would be good if you can visit Norway and apply for the jobs there. I don’t know from which country you are but if you are from the EU then it becomes even easier to find a job in Norway.

Check out http://www.finn.no/jobb/. You might find some jobs there.

It’s much more difficult for people like me who live far away to get a job in Norway.

I want to learn norsk faster and to reach the level I need to be qualified in work, I hope you could give me some medical terms in norsk. We are going to have medical class in norsk in coming months but I wanted to familiarize myself with those words as early as I can so I’ll be waiting for your emails. Tusen takk!

    • Hei guia,

Thank you for your comment. All the best when you go to Norway next year. I am sure you will love to work and stay in Norway 🙂

Right now I do not have lessons that are purely providing medical terms as my lessons are for the common person who is starting to learn Norwegian 🙂

But the lessons will help you learn Norwegian along with your language class 🙂
